Homunculus

Susumu Nakoshi, age 34, lives in his car, gradually distancing himself from ordinary life. When Manabu Ito, a medical student, offers him a large sum of money to participate in an experiment involving trepanation, Nakoshi agrees. After the operation, he begins to see people in bizarre, unsettling forms that he feels reflect something hidden within their personalities. Confronted with these strange visions, Nakoshi attempts to understand their meaning and unravel the nature of his own perception. However, as the experiment progresses, its effects on his mind become increasingly profound, forcing him to question what he sees and whether it is truly possible to penetrate another person’s psyche.
