Songsoptok
Songsoptok is a Bangladeshi television drama serial aired on Bangladesh Television, based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Shahidullah Kaiser. The story is set in Bakulia, a village during the British Raj, where two influential families—the Miyas and the Syeds—are locked in a long-standing feud. Against this backdrop, the serial portrays the lives, relationships, conflicts, and struggles of the people of Bakulia, reflecting the social and political realities of rural Bengal under colonial rule. The production has a remarkable history of its own. Filming first began in 1971 but was halted after four episodes when the Liberation War broke out. Production resumed in 1988, only to be interrupted again by the devastating floods that year. Filming eventually continued after the floods subsided, bringing Shahidullah Kaiser's expansive portrait of rural Bengal to television.
