In an alternate Japan ravaged by a protracted war, a law is passed allowing the relatives of crime victims to seek revenge on the perpetrators, either personally or through hired enforcers. An entire industry emerges around this law, turning retribution into an officially sanctioned service. Hiroshi Kanō, a mentally unstable former military assassin, joins a company specializing in carrying out such assignments. Despite his peculiarities and tormenting hallucinations, he successfully completes his missions, gradually sinking deeper into a world of violence. Yet behind the system’s outward legality lies a brutal reality in which the boundaries between justice, revenge, and murder become increasingly blurred.
